David and Marcela Raska are two of the strongest climbers in the Northwest. David is one of the best onsight climbers in the country and just made his hardest onsight this summer by sending The Feast (13c) in Maple Canyon, Utah. The vid below shows David sending his hardest redpoint, Problem Child (14c) at Deep Creek in Spokane, WA. His wife, Marcela, is so strong she can lock off on the footholds of 5.13s and make them look like jugs as she does here on the FFA of Chicken Dinner (13a) in the Riggins Cave:
With the cooler weather that we have been having Tammy and I have been climbing quite a bit out at Reynolds Creek. Here are a few photos of Tammy climbing on the Peaches boulder. The first one is a warmup called It's a Peach (V2/3) and the last three photos are of a problem that Tammy is working (and very close to sending) called Rotten Peaches (V7).
The other day Craig Hurst and I headed out to Reynolds for an evening/night session. I wanted to work on a new project that I had been trying and cleaning. I had looked at it for quite a few years and did not even try it until the other day. Craig dispatched the FA in just a few goes and I sent it a try or two later, both of us agreeing that the problem was probably V9. (*note: I just heard that Fultz got the 3rd ascent confirming the grade). Craig then went on to send Mastermind (V7), made a repeat of Pretty in Peach (hard V10), and had a couple good goes on Under Pressure (hard V11). Here is the vid: (click HD to see the HD version)
